The Earthquake

January 21, 2010

Brothers and sisters in foreign countries, with all my sadness, tearful eyes I’m writing this article. As you have known how was the situation of the Haitian people before, I don’t need to tell you how it is today.

The capital of Haiti, the first city in the country, where all the central offices are located was destroyed by the earthquake on January, 12 at 4:54 in the afternoon. Everywhere, in all the little corners people are crying , not only at Port-au-prince.

In my college, students almost died, but God rescused my life. Oh my God! It’s vital that you see me face to face in order to explain to you how my life was saved. A lot of people from Bayonnais died. We haven’t seen two students of OFCB, Madecene and Jodes, two young men of 27 years who were living in the same room with me at Port-au-prince. They were my classmates since they were little boys . That makes me feel so sad today. I feel alone. I cannot consolate their parents who are crying today because they don’t see them in order to burry them. Now, the other students and I are obliged to go back to Bayonnais to our parents who are living in poverty . We don’t know what we can do because it was our only hope ” finish our studies and find a job ” especially at OFCB.

Now, everything is very, very expensive in Haiti, especially edible things: food, clothes … Banks can’t open their doors, and school can’t either. We don’t know what we have to do in this country.

I ask you who always assisted us in these situations ” Jeanne and hurricane Hanna ” please continue to help us in this situation. I don’t write this article for only myself , but for all the students who are in the same situation with me today.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.
